The Truth Behind Bridal Makeup

The TRUTH Behind Bridal Makeup

1. Each client has unique features. Makeup artists learn to apply makeup in a way that enhances the best features of our clients face, while sometimes maybe concealing "problem areas" or features our client isn't so confident about.  We will address each client differently based on their own features.

2. Each client has a different skin type. From the oiliest of skin to the driest of dry, everyone's skin is different. The type of skin you have will determine what type of makeup an artist will choose to use on you. Your skin type will also determine how these products are applied.

3. Most Bridal looks are the same... I know I know, let me explain. 9 times out of 10, Bridal Makeup artists are sent the same inspiration photos off of Pinterest. MOST (not all) Brides wish for the same thing while requesting a look. A natural eye look with a little smokiness, a cheek color that looks like their naturally blushing, and a pinky nude lip. There is nothing wrong with these requests, they just create the go-to Bridal look.

4. Blush and mauve colors are quite popular in the bridal makeup world. Neutral hues like browns, tans, and champagnes are next on the list. Soft pinks and nudes are often picked for the lips!

5. Your makeup will NOT look like the things you see on Instagram. Typically, Bridal makeup artists are not trained/do not have the ability to create "instagram baddie" looks. Those looks are just not in our book. It's also important to realize that most of the photos found online have been edited. Be knowledgeable of who you are hiring and what their portfolios look like, that way you do not become disappointed in the end. Just like each client, every artist is unique. You can't hire Picasso to do Michelangelo's work and vice versa :)

BAD A$$ BROWS

Hello loves! Today, I wanted to take the time to walk you through my (step by step) brow waxing process. Brows have slowly become a huge passion of mine. Brows frame your ENTIRE face, which means you can't just let them fall into the hands of just anyone! I take pride in my work, I love transforming my clients brows. Just call me your fairy Brow-Mother.

Prepping the skin is the first step I take to ensure perfection. After I prep the skin, I like to consult with each client to get a better understanding of all their Brow hopes and dreams!

After waxing I make sure to remove any wax that may have been left behind. The next and final step is my favorite! After I apply moisturizer, I will fill in the brow using my favorite brow products!

Bridesmaid Gift Guide

Here are a few ideas for your special babes......

As I was searching for the perfect gift for my bridesmaids, I stumbled upon these adorable silk robes. Yes, a little un-original, but 100% worth it. Each robe had the girls first names printed in white script (on the front). I wanted to make sure whatever I was gifting them would last them a long time.

These baseball caps were the perfect bachelorette party gift for my bridesmaids! I picked up these suede hats from ALDO on "super clearance" I think each hat only cost around $5! (Other stores such as Michaels and Joann Fabrics are good places to find solid color hats.)  I took the hats to lids for customization. The end result was adorable, affordable, and the girls loved them!

How perfect are these "thanks babe cards"?! The dusty rose color matched the robes perfectly.I purchased white boxes from my local craft store and found white tissue paper to package the robes and cards together nicely.

Bridal Makeup Tips & Tricks

Are you doing your own makeup for your wedding? or maybe you are an aspiring MUA... Here are a few Tips & Tricks to fool proof your Bridal Makeup!

1. Always, ALWAYS do a trial.
Make sure you set aside time to practice your Wedding day makeup. You want to make sure you have an idea of what steps you will take, that way your morning can run a smooth as possible. You also want to make sure you test out all the products you will be using to ensure you aren't allergic or sensitive to any of the ingredients. Remember Practice makes perfect!

2. Steer Clear from Products with SPF.
SPF causes some serious flash back in photos. My inner Esthetician is cringing to say "Stay away from SPF"  but trust me, you do not want to have a ghost face in all your photos. This can be the one day you don't protect your skin...sigh.  *Check all your lotions, foundations and powders.

3. Slow and steady wins the race.
Leave yourself more than enough time to apply your makeup. In my opinion, your makeup is the most important part... and its definitely not something you want to rush.

4. Long Lasting.
Look for products that use the terms "Long Lasting" "Long Wearing" "24hr". We want to make sure your makeup stays on ALL day. The less you have to touch up, the more celebrating you can do!

5. Keep it natural.
And so it's been said, many times, many ways... Keep your makeup natural/simple. On your wedding day you want to only enhance your features. You want to look lively and as though you were glowing from within. False lashes are the only "un-natural" item to consider. Use Pinky and Peachy tones to achieve a natural look. If you consider yourself a eccentric person, Maybe choose a bold red lip while keeping the rest of the face simple.

6. All about that Base.
It is extremely important to use primer! Any good artist or painter would agree. A primer will create an even and easy application for all your other products while also locking it all into place.

7. Set it.
Investing in a setting powder and spray is a must! Setting your foundation/concealer with a translucent setting powder will give your makeup that extra flawless touch. A setting spray at the end will lock the look into place and keep it there forever!...well at least for the whole night.

8. Make your Skin a priority.
Perfect makeup doesn't just happen on its own. Perfect skin is the first step to a flawless makeup application. Months before the big day, start pampering your skin with the ingredients it needs. Visit your local Esthetician for regular facials!

9. Give it a break.
A week before the wedding, stop any facials, waxing and testing of new products.Save yourself the stress of having a possible allergic reaction!

10. You are Beautiful.
True beauty comes from within. That glow on your wedding day doesn't just come from makeup, it comes from your genuine happiness and LOVE!
